La presente investigación trata de reconstruir la trayectoria del fenómeno asociativo valenciano en el periodo medieval, incidiendo en la importancia de la organización confraternal y corporativa para la vertebración de la sociedad urbana. La cronología abarca desde la conquista cristiana en el siglo XIII hasta las primeras décadas del siglo XVI. This paper explains the pedagogical experience conducted during 2011-2012 by the author at the Ghent University (Belgium), in which he tried to recover the historical memory through oral history teaching. The search and document analysis in Belgian correspondence files, photographs and drawings, and the use of interviews and life stories of «children» exiled in Ghent during the Spanish Civil War, are the sources used for the study of these childhood stories. This article studies the role of the nobility in the XV century military expansion of the Crown of Aragon, through the particular case of the valencian nobility and the Alphonse V the Magnanimous's war cycle betwen the years 1420 and 1448. In the Valencian Seigniories of the House of Medinaceli, the expulsion of the Moorish had its negative effects, but not catastrophic. The repopulation impelled the concentration process of the property of the land and supposed a reorganization of the lordly regime that permitted be adapted better to the inflationary movements. The emphiteutic establishments of the properties that belongs to the Moorish originated rural communities quite homogeneous, thought gradually their internal differentiation was increased. Until the middle of XVIIIth century they were constituting typical examples of agrarian societies with a scarce degree of social mobility.

The documents regarding the Valencian priest Andreu Garcia († November 1452) show a quite interesting character. Garcia’s family belonged to local oligarchy. Moreover, he had a substantial income related with the Cathedral. He had contact, too, with Carthusians, Observant Friars and probably with Beghards (the books of his library suggest this last idea). Garcia took part, as an intermediary or as a sponsor, in many artistic orders that involved the best workers and the best customers of the city.
